My daughter signed up for an informational interview with an AU admissions rep at a local Panera. What is the proper etiquette for the meeting - drink nothing or buy a hot/cold drink when she gets there. (She is not a coffee drinker - so it would likely be lemonade). What should she bring with her - her resume, notebook and pen to take notes, nothing?

Bring questions - it’s an informational interview.

I don’t remember what my daughter had - it was either a bottle of water or nothing (not a coffee drinker, either). She did have questions with her. She dressed very casual and it did not appear that the other students waiting were dressed up either. Interviews show interest so great that you daughter signed up!

As I recall, my daughter felt that she wasn’t given much of an opportunity to ask questions. She did get to ask some but the admissions rep did more of a sales pitch about AU.

But it probably gained her interest points. AU was the only university that mentioned interest points when we inquired about different admission events offered.

Don’t underestimate the importance of any meeting with an admission rep, even if they call it informational. Dress professionally. My son, in kakhi’s and a tie, stood out over the others in their jeans.

Ask questions because you have them, not because you’ll get “interest points”.
