This should be safe - Advil is cleared out by then. A glass of wine is probably ok even if taken soon after Advil - once in a while.
Well, at least it is now the #1 best seller in egg cookers, thanks to our fine thread!
(Though I do feel a bit guilty about having bought from the evil Amazon now that I’ve read that NY Times story.)
My egg cooker came today. I’d better get cooking. Er, hard boiling.
My e-cloth window pack cleaner also came today. Last week the magic microfiber cloth arrived. I used to love the original “Magic Cloth” but can’t find it any more. This new one is very different but seems like a winner.
Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow of a product that a friend who used to own a cooking shop raved about when we were out to dinner the other night. I ordered two, one for me and one for a neighbor who brings me home grown veggies. This isn’t the brand but there are several that look pretty much identical:
My friend uses it to make “noodles” out of zucchini, adding them to a pan of sautéed garlic, mushrooms, peppers, onion, tomatoes and spices and cooking until the zucchini is al dente. I’d like to try it with a pesto sauce, too; and try making noodles of other veggies as well. I ordered something bulkier and more expensive a couple years ago but sent it back because it seemed too large and complicated.
If they do a reality shows featuring people who can’t stop ordering gadgets they discover on CC (and elsewhere), you may see me one of these days. But then, I’ll be in good company.
Amazon must have seen a significant spike in NW egg cooker selling activity in the past couple of days!
BB, ha!
OK, the eggs peel like magic. That egg cooker is dang good.
zipyourlips, My friend was just raving about her zoodler product the other day. I put this one in my Amazon basket but have not pulled the plug yet: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007Y9WHQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER She said that she’s made zucchini pasta with it - spiral zucchini that she boils like pasta! I’m thinking of the egg product for both my mother and mil who both eat hard or soft boiled eggs but have mobility issues, so don’t cook them often.
@emilybee, just ordered the Carcane for my elderly dad. Thanks for mentioning it!
I’m enjoying this thread. Keep 'em coming!
You guys may want to check if Zyliss makes a good spiralizer. They make really good kitchen products. I have a hand held mandolin that is their brand that I LOVE. Easy peasey to use.
When I have seen the Carcane ads I knew it could be useful.
Years ago I became familiar with Zyliss when I saw their woodworking bench vise, and I got it for my H. Swiss are very much like the Germans with engineering and putting out good products. Parents are both from Switzerland so I am very familiar with their high standards.
I doubt that Zyliss would put out a bad product.
I just returned from moving my rising junior daughter from her summer sublet to her school year apartment and…she had an egg cooker! It was a déjà vu experience! She bought it over the summer but hasn’t used it yet.
I have a hand julienne tool, made zoodles the other night, sauteed for maybe 30-60 seconds, then twirled it with a little whole grain spaghetti. With a little spice, deelish. It’s like this, but not the brand. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KEVG4L4/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_3?pf_rd_p=1944687462&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000RAD9NI&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=07T4GQBY52RY2JBFWWMC
Also have something similar to this, mine is a turner but a little rounded http://www.amazon.com/Epicurean-Kitchen-Utensils-Angled-Natural/dp/B002Z14FZ8/ref=sr_1_1_m?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1439907156&sr=1-1&keywords=epicurean+turner
They’re non-porous, alternatives to wooden utensils, hold their look, dishwasher fine, and they don’t singe.Got them inexpensively at a commercial kitchen supply company. Have probably had them going on ten years.
How about this one: Has anyone heard of or used Pomi chopped tomatoes from Italy in a box container, not a can. I just came from the supermarket & bought two. It was recommended to me so I bought some. I use a lot of tomatoes in many recipes so I thought I’d give these a try. They look great, no additives or preservatives, etc.
Walkinghome, when I clicked on your link, Amazon told me I bought that product in August 2013! That’s the one I ordered but returned since it seemed like overkill for what I wanted.
Speaking of soap alternatives, I’ve become a big fan of Neutrogena Rainbath. Great scent, with a light grapefruit smell. Helps wake me up during the morning and people will tell you how good you smell.

The Carcane product looks wonderful! I may get a few for gifts this Dec.
I am going to go post about this on the Parents Caring for Parents thread.
Thanks for sharing!
Oh and I tried Awesome due to a review of it on this site several months ago. I used it on my carpet - in the doorway area. I’ ve steam cleaned this carpet many times, but I could see that there was still dirt there. The Awesome cleaner (yellow liquid) did a terrific job on this area. Thanks for the recommendation!
Doschicos, we buy that Neutrogena body wash at Costco! I like it a lot.
Speaking of skin care products, I recently finished reading the book written by the founder of Caudalie. Lot of excellent, makes-sense-and-easy-to-follow beauty advice, and of course there was a slight push of her products. I was intrigued and bought a 5-piece trial kit on Amazon. I was not disappointed!!! I am going to get the full sized versions of everything. The hand creme is simply divine!
BunsenBurner, do you have a link for that? ^^
Re: Zyliss products, I’ll add the Zyliss chopper to my list of great finds. Mine is several years old and still good-as-new. It looks like reviews of the current one are mixed, though, with some reviewers saying it’s now cheaply made.
zipyourlips, that food chopper may be something good to get from a Pampered Chef rep. They have a great guarantee for their stuff and you can’t get it much cheaper on e-bay. You could also check out your second hand stores. I’ve seen them there for a couple of dollars!
Walkinghome, here is the book:
http://www.amazon.com/The-French-Beauty-Solution-Time-Tested/dp/1592409512
And this is the sampler set I got:
http://m.sephora.com/product/P395127
The products smell fresh and fruity. It is not a strong, chemical scent - more like faint smell of real fruits and herbs.
This is the hand creme that I already bought in a bigger size!
