Some universities require that your transcripts go through an evaluation service while others don't. My personal outlook is that its not worth it. Should school transcripts be sent to an evaluation service or should these colleges be overlooked?

hear hear.... i feel the same... in addition to the exorbitant prices we pay for applications, sending our scores and transcripts, we jus cant be expected to pay these evaluation services too... after all our transcripts r original, certified and sent directly from the school... why should we waste money for evaluating them?

ye ....I applied to FAU and later withdrew my application when they told me my transcript needs to be sent to an evaluation service -.-

I got the impression that it is mainly colleges which do not enroll a lot of international students that ask for evaluations. Either they lack experience reading international applications, or they have a contract with one specific evaluation service and are payed for "referring" students.

I never seriously considered applying to a college that required an evaluation so the issue never came up, but I would have probably just crossed that college off of my list.
