I am aware that I need to have my college transcripts officially translated and evaluated by a NACES member (NACES® - The Standard of Excellence for Credential Evaluation Services). But most schools tell you they want the original transcripts to be mailed to them directly by the university. At the same time, most NACES members also require that the transcripts be sent directly to them by the university. So, I'm incredibly confused.

What's first? Do I have my university send transcripts to EVERYBODY? Shouldn't I apply to the schools first? How will they know? They'll get the original transcript in Spanish first and then the translation and evaluation a month later?

Okay, I was confused at first… so I want to ask a clarifying question. You are talking about submitting a foreign transcript (in a different language from an institution in another country) for translation?

I don’t know the answer… but I want to be sure other readers correctly understand your inquiry.

Yes you have to send original transcripts to all the universities when you apply. Some will also require formal translations and/or evaluations of foreign transcripts.

Sorry Andale, I know it’s confusing. Not only I need it translated, I need a NACES member to evaluate my credentials (they compare my grades to US grades and decide on an equivalent). It think maybe I should’ve posted this under International students, not Transfer students. I apologize :S

My question was about the ORIGINAL transcript (the one in my language) that most schools require for admission, and the fact that any evaluator requires it too. I thought I would have to ask my university to send the same document many times, and it might be so, but I found a better way… I’ve decided to go with WES ([World Education Services - International Education Intelligence](http://www.wes.org)), cause they store my transcript and send their evaluation report + transcript to as many schools as I want to apply to. That way my university won’t have to send transcripts to more than one place.
