I am going to apply for Computer Science for Fall 2017 at Cinci. I have looked at their website and for the freshman profile for Computer Science, the GPA and ACT scores are a bit lower than what the averages are for the student body. I was wondering, when I apply, will they compare my grades to those of what their schoolwide average is, or more so for my major?
Normally you are compared to the program-specific requirements, but I’m surprised that you’re saying CS requirements are lower than the university average as a whole since CS is considered a STEM program. On a university level they are trying to build the best class possible, so if your hard stats are below the university average, that’s not a plus for you. Ask the admissions office for the answer to your question, however. They have staff on hand to answer questions just like yours. What you get here are opinions.
