We also had a great meal last night at the Stained Glass. The other moms and I were marveling that the next time we gathered as a group would be graduation. Wow that was fast. We have really enjoyed spending time in Evanston. It’s a great college town.

Back from Parents Weekend also. Kid was too busy to have a real leisurely sit down meal either night, so we grabbed an early dinner @ Cozy Noodle on Friday so that he could make his 5:30 call for the show he was in this weekend. Saw his 7 p.m. show on Friday, ran to the 9:30 performance of the NU Revue, then a short night’s sleep. Made the football game, ran out in the middle of the 3rd quarter so that we could make the 2 p.m. performance of RENT, ran out of RENT just after bows, wolfed down an early dinner at Lou Malnati’s so that the kid could make his 5:45 show call. A typical Parents Weekend. :)

@momof3sons - Too funny – your weekend sounds about like ours! We were in performances (including the fantastic 2:00 Rent) for 7 hours straight on Saturday – no time for football. Was your S in the Freshman Cabaret?

I guess now we have a better feel for what life is like on a campus that produces almost 60 shows a year!

The one thing I will say about NU Revue is that Tech Aud isn’t really meant for performances (from a sound system perspective). H and I both commented that we had flashbacks to test taking :-)

Got a great pic of S in Norris - near the fireplace with the vintage posters on the wall as background. H and I already had fond memories, and NU has just upped its game tremendously in the last few years.

Momof3sons – too funny. I was towards the back, left side, at NU Revue, on the aisle, wearing a purple cashmere sweater and purple scarf. Maybe you saw me!

I have an out of town client who has a S at NU and ran into her there, too.

This is why we don’t go to Parents Weekend - the kids are way too busy. We find a weekend when daughters commitments are a little lighter so we can at least spend some time with her.

MomCares-my kid’s a soph, although he did participate in the cabaret last year. We went this year for the opportunity to go to the football game and to see him in a show. We live a considerable distance away so can’t normally see him in shows.

If you remember the the girl who played Maureen in the 2 p.m. RENT, she is the only sophomore in the whole cast. My son says she is the most talented person he’s ever met and very humble, too.

PizzaGirl-we literally sprinted into the 9:30 revue post-9:30 and just grabbed some seats on the far right, so alas, I didn’t notice your lovely sweater and scarf combo. DH and I were still in our NU sweatshirts from the football game. I agree that my son wouldn’t nearly have been as busy if he wasn’t in a show with 5 performances this weekend.

@momof3sons - I remembered you had a sophomore right after I posted that! D knows the talented 2:00 Maureen as they’re in the same a cappella group… We thought the entire production was fantastic!

@PizzaGirl - I’m not sure how much busier the Theatre kids are during Family Weekend than usual, since it seems like they go non-stop every hour of EVERY day, but I’m pretty sure the hotels charge more that weekend. ;-D

Just visited Norris for the NU Hoodie and ate at Flat Tops in Evanston yesterday. It was packed - and the kids are not even back yet. My first time, but the kids ate there when they did the NU visit. They have a nice set up if you like Asian food, and you can stuff yourself - as my son did - an extra $1 gets you a 2nd bowl. 3rd bowl I hear is free!

I’m actually not a big fan of Flat Top, but a lot of my friends trying to stretch their budget do go there on occasion for all you can eat lunch for cheap.

Evanston Burger Place on Check Please last night…MMMMMM looks good. Can’t wait till we drop off kid on move-in day so we can take him to Edzo’s.
