Ever been moved to tears by music?

never. usually only cry over physical things, sometimes death ect…or school haha

Yes but there’s only been one or two.

Seach “Gabriel’s Oboe” on YouTube. Exquisite.

^ Didn’t make me cry but I like it.

EDIT: It’s too slowww.

I’m not much of a crier, but I’ve been moved to tears by music, especially when it’s associated with a particular scene in a movie. Not so much with actual songs with lyrics, but with scores. I think most of the times when I tear up to a song with lyrics is when I can connect it to a moment in my life. Scores that come to mind are that of The Lion King, Titanic, Pocahontas, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, Cast Away, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Actual songs that come to mind are Dreaming of You by Selena (I think this larger has to do with the last part of the movie Selena where this song is playing), Can You Feel the Love Tonight by Elton John, If I Never Knew You (both of the versions by Pocahontas & John Smith and Jon Secada & Shanice), Dance With My Father by Luther Vandross, What’s Going On by Marvin Gaye, I Still Believe in You by Vince Gill, Right Here Waiting by Richard Marx, and My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion (made me tear up a long time ago when I first heard it).

Definitely Dance with my father, I hope you dance, and into the ocean almost brought me to tears since i feel that i can connect with the lyrics except with Dance with my father but i wanna give my dad the biggest hug after hearing that song.

Leaving Hogwarts from SS an DH2
Glagslow Love Theme- Craig Armstrong
If You See Him, If You See Her- Reba McEntire
Whiskey Lullaby- Allison Krauss & Brad Paisley
Someone Like You- Adele
…and many more. I am a very emotional person.

Oh and Hear You Me by Jimmy Eat World

The first few times I heard songs off an Il Divo album [… have since moved on to other music but their voices are still oh so heavenly]

Brian Crain. Love him so much! Also, Tonight (by FM Static) and Mad World.

yeah, but i’ve never cried by just how beautiful/sad a song was. it’s usually playing during a really sad scene in a TV show or a movie when I first hear it, and everything together will make me cry. if i hear the song again, i’ll usually associate the song with the scene i first saw it with, and then cry again.

my heart will go on - celine dion … cannot hear that song without crying. i’ve watched titanic wayyyyyy too many times.

Forever and Always by Parachute <3

Yes… “I Just Had Sex” by Lonely Island - most touching, sentimental song ever.

jk :D

Bob Seger’s “The Fire Inside”, a few film soundtracks (Williams and Morricone, mostly, because I’m a giant sucker; not Titanic, though, because James Horner makes me want to puke), a handful of Nick Cave songs, and the finale from Les Miserables make me choke up consistently.

Many times. I have synesthesia though, so sometimes when a color just fits the mood I’m in it just moves me.

Uh yeah. It wasn’t really depressing though. “Saint simon” by the shins. Great song. Not much of a crier, not in books or movies, but I don’t know, something about the first time I listened to that song.

I listen to music almost all the time, and I don’t think I’ve ever cried to a song. That said, “Our Town” by Iris Dement gets me choked up every time I hear it. I suppose it might have something to do with the fact that my parents used to play it all the time. It’s also just an incredibly powerful song.

This being a college website, I just know I’m gong to be playing it a lot when I leave home for the first time come December. Play it, and you’ll see why.

Classical music makes me cry, moreso when I play it than when I listen to it.

Mahler Symphony No. 1 iv
Tchaikovsky Swan Lake Suite scene
Rimsky Korsakov Scheherezade iii
Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6 i

and when I used to listen to emotional hardcore, that too got me to tears at times. Bands like Envy, Saddest Landscape, etc.

Every single time I listen to Chopin’s Piano Sonata no. 2 in B Flat Minor, which is why I always listen to it alone.

Most of the time when I listen to his Nocturnes in E Minor and B Minor.

Rachmaninov’s 2nd Symphony almost always does it, too. And his piano concertos. There are some others but those are the most common, I think.

@crazypluto: ditto on the tchaikovsky! props for mahler too.
