<p>Our school uses Everyday Math and the one thing the students and parents agree on is that they don't like it! On the other hand, our school consistently scores above average in math, but it scores above average in everything -you'll find that in most upper middle class suburbs. However, many, many students get math tutors.</p>

Just wanted to add that I just spoke to my Dartmouth freshman -- no calculators have been allowed in Multivariable Calculus or Differential Equations. Calculators are allowed in the honors physics sequence he's taking, but as I expected, they aren't needed. By the time students get to these classes, the arithmetic is not the issue, but I'm sure they need to know the basic functions.</p>
