Evolutionary Anthropology Major

Hello,
I am currently a freshman honors student at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. I am unsure of what I want to study but have been seriously considering the evolutionary anthropology major that U of M offers. I know that U of M has a very highly respected anthropology department and just wanted some feedback as to what kind of graduate programs in anthropology would be within my reach. I do not want to pursue anthropology if I won't be able to get into a top graduate program, because I know that almost all of the very few jobs in the field are academia based and I don't want to find myself with a PhD that I can't use. I am not concerned about making a large salary, but I definitely do not want to spend the time and money getting a doctorate from a grad program that won't allow me to get a job teaching and doing research at a well-respected university. Should I pursue the evolutionary anthropology major (which I am the most interested in) or something with greater job security? The other career path I was debating was epidemiology/biostatistics.

How advanced are you in math if you want to do biostat?
