I’m an international Student doing my A Levels through Cambridge International. I write half my subjects in the middle of the year and half at the end of the year. My second batch of results come in mid-January.
With university application deadlines being before my exam results come through, how do I submit my results? And will half my subject’s results coming in later have a negative affect on my applications?
You should ask admissions at universities that you are considering.
My expectation is that most universities will expect you to send in your applications on time, and then send them your grades as soon as they are available. Admissions will still be working on making decisions long after the deadline to send in applications. At the point that you get your results in mid-January, the universities might already have sorted applications into ones that are likely to be rejected, ones that have a good chance of being accepted, and ones where important results are still going to be coming in.
Way back when I was applying to schools, including one highly selective school in the US, I took the SAT exam at the latest possible time. I got my acceptance to a well known US university and my SAT results in the mail one day apart. It was pretty obvious that the university had gotten my SAT results before I had, and acted on them. This was however no sooner than mid January and it might have been February when I got both SAT results and admissions results.
You would probably be surprised how much admissions at US schools knows about high schools and universities in other parts of the world. They will know how you should handle this and will be able to advise you.
Thank you for this advice! I’ll definitely look into contacting the universities to see how it all works.
Actually, for AS/Alevels, there’s a process
- provide all GCSE/OLevel/AS results
- provide predicted ALevels…
1+2 should be part of your application and what your guidance counselor/head teacher provides.
College decisions are made based on this.
And 3) as soon as you have your final results, send them ? - as long as they’re within range, you’re good !
Thank you for this! I thought they had to be a general way for it to work, so thank you so much for explaining it to me. This will definitely make my application process much smoother.
