Hi so I decided I want to go to graduate school for IT in the near future. But am not sure what exam to take...I looked around and think I can take the GMAT? Which ones do most schools prefer? I do not know which school I want to go to yet but I want to take the exam first and sit on it to decide. I heard the tests are valid for 5 years so I have some time to mull it over.

thank you!

Do the research. The web sites of the programs you’re interested in will tell you exactly which test, if any, you need to take.

yes but is there a general majority of which exam to take?

I searched for the programs and it seems a majority want the GRE. How can I find all IT programs in California? Google isn’t helping.

How is Google not helping? I just Googled “masters in information technology california” and got Fullerton and Berkeley as my top two hits. Yeah, you may have to wade through a lot of links to find what you want, but hey, you’ve got to do it. I’m sure if you add “.edu” to your search, it will narrow it down some. (I can’t believe I’m telling this to an IT person.)

^^GMAT will be pretty useless. GRE general is quite simple. GRE computer science may be required. It’s not a very well-designed test.
