Exams are self scheduled. For cost (and crowds) alone, leaving as far away from the 25th as possible is wise. I'm sure you'll be fine. The Profs know what the difficulties of overseas travel can be and always work with the students.

You can take your exam on the first day or two of the examination period, but a lot of classes , especially in the gov. dept., require final papers in lieu of a final exam. The prompts are usually handed out on the last day of classes, so if you're really organized you can get it all done and still leave early. Your profs. will also usually let you turn in the papers via email, so you could go home early and finish them up there. But I can't focus at home, so I just stay through the end of the exam period. Unfortunately, you won't know how many finals you have until September. So far, all of my classes have had papers rather than exams, but I don't think that's typical.

I would leave yourself at least 2 days to take exams during the exam period.

You have to be out of the house by 10:00AM the 23rd anyway :)

Thank you for all the answers!

I'm a fellow flyer, and it is safe to plan a flight for the evening of the last day of exams. Every other day of exams, you can take your tests at 10, 2, and 7 o'clock, but on the last day you can only take exams at 10 AM and 2 PM anyway, so you may as well take off that night.
