Example Resume from College Students

Can I get some examples of college application resumes? I don't want it to be like template resumes, but something more attention grabbing.

Isn’t it the content of the resume that is supposed to be eye catching? I don’t think that the font or format matters…

Why do you feel that you need a resume? The Common App and colleges with their own forms ask what they want to know. They don’t need a duplicate piece of paper listing the things they have already asked. Just annoys 'em in this day and age when they get thousands of applications. Some old school GCs may still think it is a good idea, but what you really want to do is effectively use the application (including the “additional information” section to elaborate as needed, but CONCISELY elaborate). Use bullets, group things with headers. An example would be if you have an EC where you have won awards or finished well in multiple individual competitions – one of my kids put “See Additional Information” in the EC description, then listed bullets of her accomplishments under a header for the EC in Additional Information.

The one example I have heard of when it may be a valid additional item to provide is for a student who is very accomplished in musical theater or acting, and they have a long list of credits to describe.

DD started a resume in freshman year during Christmas break, she had a volunteer interview the following day, then she was able to use it for summer program applications, job interviews & scholarship apps. Just go to Microsoft and the blank templates are there! It’s quite easy & should take you no time at all.

The Common Application no longer allows documents to be uploaded; one of the reasons they did this was to stop kids from submitting resumes, as colleges DO NOT want resumes.

That said, if you google “college resumes” you’ll find plenty of examples.
