<p>ASSIGNMENT:Are the actions of individuals more valuable than the actions of groups or teams? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.</p>

<p>Some SAT essay advice: think of examples first and then adopt a viewpoint. The point isn’t that you need to agree with the viewpoint you take. The point is that you have three (well, I typically go for three) examples that support A (any) viewpoint. </p>
<p>But anyways, you could talk about the Civil War. Even though the North had more soldiers and possibly better trained soldiers, it didn’t matter. It mattered who was in charge of the Army of the Potomac/the Confederate Army. For awhile, the South was winning because they had a great leader (Robert E. Lee) while the North couldn’t keep a leader long enough. So in that case, the leader’s (aka the individual’s) actions were more valuable.</p>
<p>They are essentially inviting you to provide examples of individual action being decisive on an occasion. </p>
<p>Lots of examples should occur to you- for instance most of the Shakespearean plays, 12 Angry Men, To Kill a Mockingbird, Atlas Shrugged, A Man for All Seasons etc etc. </p>
<p>Historically you can look at great generals or statesmen like Churchill.
Science is perhaps the easiest of all- anyone from Ford, to Tesla, to Steve Jobs. </p>
<p>This is one of the easier prompts. Make sure you review all of the works you have covered in high school as part of your sat prep so you arent trying to remember them when you get to the exam.</p>
