At my current SAT prep place they told us that the two examples we choose should be related, like choosing Jay Gatsby and Tom Buchanan. But at my previous SAT prep class I heard that you should choose two separate examples, to demonstrate how much knowledge you have, like choosing the war of 1812 and Macbeth. While my current SAT prep place has an excellent reputation I can't help but wonder which strategy is best.

It really doesnt matter. As long as you chose two solid examples and weigh them completely you should get good scores.Go with things you really know well and exhaust all the possibilities the examples afford with regard to the essay. Cheers and good luck!!!
