What I’d do is only work on paper that’s literally attached to the math folder. Don’t even place the paper on the table; it’s inside the book at all times. So if he can put the book into the backpack, he’ll have his homework.

It might get slightly easier in February when he gets off campus privileges and can go home and get stuff.

Good idea, Hanna - I will suggest it.

“The second one he actually had completed two days in advance. It was in the folder, in the backpack, but then for some reason he took everything out of the backpack and went to an evening band practice.”

My three kids have always kept completely different bags/backpacks for school, sports, band, and sleepovers. The school backpack was always, only used for school. Once they could drive, the back of the kid car held multiple bags for various extracurriculars.

You might want to figure out a way for your child to never have to empty out his school backpack to be used for anything else.

10th grader has ADHD. If he forgets his homework then he gets a zero. So I have to admit that I ask him before he goes to school if he has all his homework in his binder. I don’t check I just ask him every morning. Once in a while he will then remember that he printed something and forgot to put it in the binder. I know I will have to stop asking before he goes off to college but at least for now it’s sort of a check before he heads out the door.
