Excellent LAC that give s lot of aid to internationals?

Hello everyone. This is my first thread so I hope you all understand me!

I am a girl from Mexico who wants to study a Music major. However, I do not have a lot of money to pay the huge costs of the colleges in the United States. My parents can at the most contribute $14000

Anyone knows any LAC that gives A LOT of aid to international students?

So far I know of Colgate, Smith, F&M, and Colby.

Amherst comes to my mind, if I remembered correctly, it’s one of the few LACs that is need blind to international students. It’s consistently ranked among the top LACs, so admission is very competitive.

Hi! Current Smith student from Mexico (also on huge financial aid) here!

Mmmm, you probably know about it already, but Bryn Mawr gives out good FA. What about Grinnell? It’s in the middle of nowhere, but it’s a great school and they’re very generous with FA. Oberlin has a great music program, and they give great aid to internationals, although I think they do give it to fewer students. If your parents can contribute 14k, then Hampshire College might be another one. Macalester’s another one that comes to mind.

Amherst does, indeed, cover full FA and is also needblind for internationals, but if you’d be a happy Smith student, you’d be miserable at Amherst. But you can take classes there, which a lot of students do. My roommate (a Music major) is taking 2 courses there next semester.

But before I tell you about a bunch of other schools, what are your stats?

@Guitar500 why do you say that if the OP is happy at Smith she would be miserable at Amherst?

For music, in addition to the obvious (Williams, Yale…), look into Oberlin, Lawrence, St Olaf, URochester, Tufts. All these schools provide financial aid for the internationals they’re interested in. You should also use the “Music” subforum, there’s a lot of good info there.

eduard97: student body is quite different, and Smith has a very particular kind of atmosphere that is not everybody’s cup of tea. Don’t get me wrong, I love Smith very much, but I can tell that a lot of students would be miserable in that kind of environment.
