Excuse the newbie here :) My chances at getting in?

<p>Hey everybody, sorry if my question is entirely redundant, but what do you guys think? </p>

<p>I go to a Catholic college prep school in Columbus Ohio, ranked among the top 5% in the US. </p>

<p>I have a 3.6 Accum weighted (Don't know what it is unweighted)
My classes are - </p>

<p>English - AP English Lit./Comp., AP English Lang., Fr and So. English
Math - Algebra I/II, Hs. Geom., PreCalc AB
Hist. - American Hist, Economics, Government, World Hist.
Science - Intro. to phys./chem., Biology, HS Chem., HS Physics, AP Bio
Lang. - Latin I/II, Spanish I/II, French I/II
Religion - Fr., So., Jr (Morality), Sr. (Comparative Religion) </p>

<p>I consistently get B/B+ grades, but my grades are significantly deflated because of my curriculum. We lose roughly 50% of our class after Fr. yr., most of whom earn 4.0+ at other parochial/public schools. Our Regular level classes are similar to HS classes elsewhere, our HS classes AP, and our AP college courses. My English Lit. is the same Soph. class they teach at kenyon, and my Bio the same So. class at Miami of Ohio. We send at least half of our class to OSU, (which is pretty good, I think)</p>

<p>Acivities -
Tennis - 2nd singles, MVP, Captain, 1st team all league
St. Vincent de Paul volunteer this summer
Appalachia service trip (Environmental camp)
Altar Serving
National Honor Society
School language tutor
I teach myself foreign languages - I speak Spanish, English, Japanese, Italian, and French fluently
Etc.</p>

<p>Scores -
AP English Lang. - 5
SATI - - - - 680 580 710 = 1970, but I just took them again, and I think I got around a 710 630 740 (2080)
No ACT</p>

<p>ETC -
I am a WFU legacy - my dad went to Bowman Gray School of Medicine
I am applying ED
I have visited WFU
Unique essays
I am 1/4 Japanese (Does that qualify as a minority?)</p>

<p>I really hope things pan out; WF is my TOP school; I loved the place the second I stepped foot on it. Does anyone have tips for applying? Tips for nervousess? :) I heard the hallowed envelope arrives with the single most beautiful word "Congratulations" :)</p>

<p>Thank you all for your patience and help, I really really appreciate it :)</p>

<p>TJM</p>

<p>My guess ... just that ... is you're a slam dunk. Get your black and gold garb cleaned and packed. Go Steelers ... and Demon Deacs!</p>

<p>I'm really curious, if you'll share ... how do you "think" you got "around a 2080" on the SATs. Man, if you know that, you'll be a full professor by the end of your 3rd year at WFU.</p>

<p>And how do you know your essays are "unique?" Do you know what every other person wrote? Inquiring minds are curious ...</p>

<p>If you've already written your essays why are you in need of "tips for applying?"</p>

<p>Thank you for the honest reply, WhistlePig, I can understand where you're coming from.
I guess I should have used the words "hope for" instead of "think." I took the SATs to improve my math score. The last SAT test, in my opinion, was much easier than the first two I took. The two times I got a 580 in math, I left a slew of answers blank because I had no idea of how to go about answering them. This time around, I worked my tail off trying to improve my quantitative skills (as my scores show, I'm much more of a verbal/lingual person) I felt very confident about my improvement, to where I feel I could have moved up 40-50 points. As you suggest, there is no way to know it for sure until the 20th.
The English lit class I'm taking now is a joint Eng/Humanities class at kenyon. I think the heavy writing workload I have experienced even so far has helped me immensely. It certainly helps when the essay topic is almost exactly like one of my app. essay prompts as well. Again, a prediciton is a prediction, I could have done worse (hopefully not) than before, it's hard to tell.
My essays are, however, unique compared to those of many students. I wrote about things that only I could write about. An admiss. guy at UVA told me that if they can place someone else's name over it and not tell the difference, it's not original. I tried my very best to write by that rule. I honestly don't believe any other student could recreate (this particular) life experience.
I was just looking for some feedback about the application process. I don't know, I guess it was a filler :) maybe "tips from students" would have been a better way to phrase it.
I really hope you didn't think I was trying to be arrogant or presumptious by this post. I was trying to find honest opinions and answers to my question. If you go to college now, I'm sure you can relate to my unease, having at one point been a prospective student :) </p>

<p>Thanks</p>

<p>Nah, no sweat. You're fine. Just wondered as your questions and observations were really unusual. Good luck on the math. Hope to see you at WFU.</p>

<p>Thanks WP, you're pretty understanding. :)</p>

<p>yeah you should be set. you have better grades than i had and the that you're a legacy and minority-ish applying ed should put you over the top. good luck. oh and write good essays.</p>

<p>Thanks for the advice, Will. The essays (as usual) are pretty intensive this year. I'm still trying to fiddle around with the short answers, they're kind of hard. What were your experiences with those?</p>

<p>I liked the short answers.....they gave me an opportunity to rant about random stuff. The essay was the hard part for me as it was fairly limited.</p>
