Exercise Science major (difference in programs Temple, Cabrini, & Ship)

Ok so right now I'm exploring majors and minors that match my interests and right now the big one is exercise science. My overall question is the big difference between these three programs:
1- Temple University (Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in Exercise and Sport Science)
Exercise and Sport Science | College of Health Professions and Social Work

2- Cabrini College (Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion)
Exercise Science and Health Promotion Major or Minor

3- Shippensburgh University (Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science)
Shippensburg University ? Academics ? Exercise Science

Is it better to have a degree specific to Exercise Science or the one from Temple with a specialization under the department of kinesiology?

If you had to compare the 3 programs which do you think is the best?
(one of Ship's requirements for the major is the certification in at least 1 of 4 certifcations being:
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Health/Fitness Specialist exam
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Personal Trainer (ACSM-CPT) exam
National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) exam
National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS) exam)

Does anyone know which is more reputable? Temple or Ship? I don't hear much about Cabrini?

FIY: I've got accepted to both Cabrini & Ship, I'm wait listed at Temple but I'm working on that one with a visit April 21st im sending my mid year report as well as an xtra letter of interest.

hello sjriehl18!

i’m currently an exercise major at rutgers in nj, so i feel like i can relate.

temple has the most focused major, and the most required courses. cabrini and ship have more wiggle room for free electives it looks like. what you would prefer in terms of free electives is up to you.

ship’s requirement to be certified isn’t a huge deal. most of those certs are fairly easy to acquire. the ones that may be difficult to obtain (which are the ones worth getting) are the ACSM Health Specialist and NSCA’s CSCS (the most recognized and respected cert in the US). if i’m correct, both would require you either being a senior in your last semester, or already having a degree.

if you want to go to grad school (to be either a researcher, cardio rehab specialist, professor, or elite sports coach) or if you want to go to med/dental/PT/PA/optometry/podiatry/chiro school, go to TEMPLE. that’s where you want the most applied and narrow focus. plus, temple has a nice pre-professional school track for the degree.

if grad school or professional school is out of the question, then just go to whichever school feels right. maybe go by reputation? or maybe just go by the “feel” of the school when you visit?
