D entered USC this fall as a dance(ballet) major planning to also follow a pre-med path. It hasn't taken her long to realize that the USC dance program is not what she thought it would be and she has decided to drop the dance major to focus on her pre-med studies. She has met with cross college advising already to plan next semester. Her plan is to change to exercise science with the scientific foundations emphasis. Unfortunately, she can't officially be an exercise science major until next fall because current students need to have 12 credit hours (which she has from AP credits) and a 2.75 GPA which she does not have yet since officially her transcript doesn't have any grades.

Anybody here have any info on the program? So far everyone she has talked to there has been very helpful. Thanks!

D enrolled as a freshman this year for exercise science. She is taking zero exercise science classes this fall and will take only one in the spring. I don’t think your daughter will be far behind at all if she focuses on knocking out core classes this year.

Went to orientation and was blown away by the school of public health presentation. There is a high degree of focus on career in the Arnold School, and I was amazed at all the potential options you could do through that school. My D wants to go on to PT school, and from what I’ve heard, USC Ex Sc graduates are looked on favorably by the PT schools.

Thanks, NCdad1. This semester she took the same classes as shown in the flow chart for exercise science with the exception of the one ExSc class. She is hoping to get into that next semester and should be right on track! I am glad to hear you were impressed with the school at orientation!
