Exeter, Andover, St. Paul's, Groton, Deerfield...Chances?

Hello! I am a male 9th grader at a private school who will be applying to Exeter, Andover, Deerfield, Choate, Groton, St. Paul's, Hotchkiss, and Milton for my 10th grade year (2012-2013), and was wondering about my chances.

Grades (I don't know if they look this far back, so I posted from 6th grade on):

6th Grade ~
English and Social Studies: A
Science: A
Math: B+
Chinese 1B: A-
PE (doesn't really count for much, I don't think): A+
6th Grade Band: A+

7th Grade ~
English and Social Studies: A
Science: A+
Math: A-
Chinese 2A: A-
PE: A+
Advanced Band: A+

8th Grade ~
English and Social Studies: A
Science: A
Math: A-
I also took a high school "for credit" class during the summer in Geometry w/ Proof and got an A+
Chinese 2B: A-
PE: A+
Concert Band: A+

9th Grade (first semester) ~
English 9 Honors: A
AP World History: B+/A- (wavering between the two; it's the only AP class for freshmen, and only 30 people were chosen. One of the higher grades out of my class.)
Honors Physics: A+
Honors Algebra II: A-/A (again, wavering between the two)
Heritage Mandarin 9: B+
Spanish 1: B+
Symphonic Band: A+
PE & Health: A+

Overall I thought for my middle school years (6th-8th) my grades were decent, and this year they were OK, considering they were all honors courses and my workload is quite high. I hope to raise them before the end of this semester, though.

Extracurriculars:

Tennis - Varsity Team (7 years)
Baseball - trying out next season (3 years)
Percussion - Lead percussionist (5 years)
Piano - played before, but I don't have time now, still tinker around a bit (6 years)
Guitar - learning to play myself (1.5 years)
Orphanage Club - started this year (.5 years?)
MUN - participating in TAIMUN conference at school later this year, participated last year as well (2 years? or 1.5?)

My interviews at the schools went REALLY well, I really hit it off with all my interviewers. My essays are coming along nicely as well. My recommendations should be good as well; I like all my teachers and they seem to like me as well.

SSAT Scores:

Verbal 773 (93rd percentile)
Math 794 (94th percentile)
Reading 725 (91st percentile)
Overall 2292 (96th percentile)

I have another test scheduled and I may take it again to raise the reading score; don't know what happened with that. Do schools see if you take the test multiple times?

Thanks in advance for the help, it is very much appreciated. And good luck to all those applying!

I don’t know that much, since I don’t even know what my chances are for these schools(I’m applying to deerfield, exeter, blair, and taft), but you seem like you have pretty good grades and stuff and I think you can get in. I dont know, but isn’t it much harder to be accepted in 10th grade ? I don’t know for sure…but that may be a problem. Otherwise, your SSAT scores are great, grades are good. You should get in.

Hi DeerfieldIHope!

Yes, I do believe that it is harder to be accepted for tenth grade, as it is the grade everybody is applying for right now (the recent couple of years). But lately there has been this trend of people that should be going to 10th grade retaking 9th grade. Seems like a smart idea to get around the system, but I wouldn’t want to do that.

Thanks for the encouragement, and good luck on your apps! Hope your essays are coming along nicely.
