Thank you (:

leppy, you sound like a strong candidate. How are you test scores?

hmm. well i havent taken the ssat yet, but i have taken the practice test, and my advisor at school thinks i can score 90< percentile.

I’m cautious to call anyone a shoo-in, but it is difficult to imagine any school turning you down if your scores are up there.

Just apply! You have nothing to lose.

thanks guys. i think ive narrowed it down to just 2 schools- exeter and thacher

I have a rising 7th grader trying to make plans for next summer, does the Exeter Summer Program help your chances of getting in, do you think?

The summer program is a great way to show that your child is ready for the boarding experience, but it is hardly the only way. I don’t know if it really improves your chances. I’m sure there were plenty Access Exeter alum who were not admitted.

From conversations with parents whose children have gone to the Exeter summer program, I gather that it’s not very much like the regular session, but that it is a lot of fun. So if you think your child would love it, then by all means, sign him/her up! But I wouldn’t count on it improving chances.

well i have heard it does, especially if you get good grades- i got 3 honors grades, which is the best grades you can get. its really fun, and you get a taste of the boarding school experience- i would reccommend it for sure. also, you can get good reccommendations from teachers, and they are mostly exeter alums or teachers, and can tell you about the experience.
