Exeter dorm stereotypes?

Yeah, Saer is right. At least, all the information I got last year indicated that they match you with your room mate all from the first sheet you ever send to them with your extra-curricular(s) and stuff. They do a good job, need less to say.

Yea, my roommate is very athletic and so am I. We both are Varsity athletes and have the same personality and stuff like that.

The deans try to avoid dorm reputations- the assignments are on some levels random and on some levels not (they don't want to put 10 varsity athletes in one dorm and none in another). Dunbar gets the "party dorm" reputation only because their parties are the biggest (because they have the most people by about 20).

You can throw dorm parties? Like REAL parties...or just lets get together.

how many dorms are there in Exeter?

17 dorms, 8 houses. Some are technically split up (Webster North and Webster South, for instance) but I counted the two as one dorm anyway - since most people don't really differentiate.
and mpicz: no, not real "parties" lol. just like... let's all go to the common room and play loud music/be insane/etc.

Amen is the pretty girl dorm.
Lamont is for the artsy kids.
Wentworth is full of jocks and postgrads. But then again it's close to the gym.
I guess Langdell's a bunch of nice people.
Dunbar's just huge.
Cilley's for rich preppy athletic kids. Cballs the ****.

You can always switch out though if you don't like it.....

You go there poss?

**You can throw dorm parties? Like REAL parties...or just lets get together.

Haha, that made me laugh. Exeter...parties...lol

i don't think they "place" roomates because they're similar- in fact i'd say th ecomplete opposite; they place them because they're different

dunbar is sort of has most of the legacy girls (along with other ppl- i mean its HUGE. 60 girls!)
wentworth IS known as the jock dorm
lamont had a lot of real artsy/manga types, but they all graduated. now i don't know.
merril is strict. very strict. the girls themselves? ???

agree canadiankid! party at exeter, yea right

haha my tour guide lived on an island with 26 people on it before Exeter- I was like, whoa, going from that to a school just about 30 times bigger? Yikes!

Wow. Which island? Does anybody know if it's allowed to request a roommate? Like someone you already know?

I don't know what island- she said it was off the coast of Maine.
I don't know if you're allowed to request- I think they put a lot of emphasis in making you branch off and meet people you wouldn't normally meet, instead of keeping you in a pre-fabricated bubble. Lol.

Hmm... I've heard that they allow you to though, especially siblings? I guess I'll just have to look it up.

Maybe! I bet they do, but discourage it. Like, they discourage requesting dorm placement, too.

damn, that island must be a feeder island to Exeter or something ! I mean how many cities, towns, or provinces can claim that it sends 3% of its entire population to Exeter? :P

haha. more like 3.8% :P

Haha, well the girl told me boarding school was the only option- she was homeschooled before Exeter. So maybe the island can boast of up to 50%+ acceptance rates into schools? Haha
