McConnell does have thin walls. The rooms are glorified closets (they're very small), and some of them smell a bit like manure.

But otherwise, McConnell is fabulous.

Wow. makes me want to rethink boarding school. I'm applying this year, but when I went to visit last year, somehow we decided to go on community action day (totally coincidental) and didn't get to tour. What are the showers like? Are they all grouped in a corner (like camp?) or does each room have a separate shower/bathroom? also, what were you scores and applications and extracurriculars like when you applied?? Thanks!

in my dorm there are two showers and two toilets per half of the hallway. but there's no problem showering or sinks in the morning, because everybody's free at different times. and if the showers on your side of the hall r full, you can just go to another bathroom. although they ar very clean 9nothing to be scared of) i still wear shower shoes. the senior suits (doubles) have their own bathroom.

thanks so much!

I love it here. I know, I know, I've only been here a total of 3 weeks or so, but it's great. Yeah, it stinks when people are listening to music and you are trying to study. Or it's freaking cold after you take a shower, but it's fun. Like really, dorms are great at Exeter. I know every dorm does fun stuff like Cilley Hall plays Cilley ball (a game they made up, I think it's like 4 square, maybe not though) and every other week a dorm hosts a dance (pretty much.) There hasn't been a bathroom problem yet at all. There are 3 showers, and 3 bathrooms on my floor, and seeing as that's not more than 15 girls, and we are doing stuff at different times, everything works out.

I was able to go to the Summer Session '11 and stayed in Langdell hall, I will say they had like three spacious rooms and the rest were tiny, I mean like maybe 10 ft by 7 ft and have very large furniture that takes up space, however girls learned to work with it (I had one of the bigger rooms with my roomate (: ) I did hear most girls say that Dvnbar( think that’s how it’s spelled) was the best, room-wise. I do hope I am in Langdell however because during regular session it is next to one of the dining halls, I’ve experienced the lines at Elm Street and it was NOT fun, besides Langdell, Hoyt, and Merill are nearest to the Academic Center, Science Center, & Phillips Hall (most english and humanities classes here) the only cons to these dorms that I experienced were how far they were from the gym & Narnia, but they are close to downtown (: So there are many pros for each dorm many cons for each dorm, it just depends on your personality, style, and what matters most to you. I will say, according to what I’ve heard, the dorms apparently have reps, so I guess that’s just something to figure out when we get there.

there are two desks (not sure if this applies for the smaller rooms, since I was in one of the largest), two bookcases, two drawer thingies, and the beds.
