Exeter

Be brutally honest. All documents have been sent and I do not mind criticism.

I am a sophomore applying for my junior (lower) year.

All vagueness is intentional.

GPA overall: 4.0/5.0 (not including first semester of 2012-2013 school year)
GPA for ninth grade: 4.2/5.0
So 2 - 3 B's per semester/6 classes, perhaps a scary and unforgivable C that will later be reversed.. All honors where possible. Doubling up on one group of classes.

SAT: 2,000 (estimation. so far, my score has increased by 100pts in between each examination. 2,000 is lowballing by that standard, but seemingly likely.)

ECs:

Literary magazine
Honor society
Foreign relations advocacy group
Former political internship
Speech & debate

^ leadership positions in 3/5 of the above

PLUS: I volunteer with a public organization throughout the summers and during the academic years.

EMPLOYMENT: Since 2011. It is a job, but I turned down offers to be payed.

Other things: one notable award, another notable accomplishment, both from places of which you have heard.

Essays: exceptionally strong.
Interview: interviewer liked me, said he hopes I get in.

English and math recs: I really don't know what these teachers would write, esp. for math. My English teacher said he would write something good . . .
EC: Good, I imagine.
Counselor rec: Very, very strong.

======

You might think that everything looks good, but the grades worry me.

. . . bump . . .

You have a strong resume, but Exeter & other ultra selective schools have many, many more qualified applicants than spaces, so who can really tell how it will shake out in March…

Yeah, I think I would be safe if I had all A’s, which is a problem. I am hoping other factors will compensate for this.

anyone else?

Exeter is really hard to get into, and applying to Exeter for junior is even harder. Many people have the same accomplishments. You need something that makes you stand out.
