Phillips Exeter -- oh my.

Chances?!

I'm applying to Exeter as an Upper, although I am currently a junior at an inner-city school in Ohio. They offer 2 AP English, 2 AP science, 2 AP history, 3 AP art, 1 AP math, and 1 AP FL (Spanish). They have a post-secondary option through a few local universities (Kent State, Stark State, Malone -- none of which will transfer out of state), and dual credit courses through the same.

I submitted by PSAT scores. I was 99th percentile in Reading, 94th in Writing, and 46th in Math (clearly it is not my strongest point).

Class Rank (approx): 25/450
GPA: I think that my weighted cumulative is a 3.9 or a 4.0, and unweighted, 3.7
this is only due to a high school Algebra credit in 8th grade -- I didn't do very well. Without it, my GPA would be far higher.
AP/Honors/ADV: Honors Biology, Honors English I, English II adv., Modern World History adv., Pre-Calculus adv., AP Language and Composition, AP US History, AP American Government and Politics, (and for next year) AP Physics, AP Literature and Composition, French IV adv.
- I took 9th grade science and 9th grade Algebra in 8th grade, putting me a year ahead in both fields. I've also skipped forward a year in French, as I was required to take Spanish as a freshman.

Activities:
Mckinley Saxton (newspaper) - 2 years. I've been the editor of both Technology and Feature sections, and next year I'll be Editor-in-Chief.

Speech and Debate - 3 years. An officer every year except my first. Impromptu Speaking and Original Oratory. Let's just say I gave up Saturdays for this.

Model United Nations - 2 years. Latvia + Israel.

A'Capella Choir - 2 years. Alto/Mezzo section leader. We compete at Solo & Ensemble every year, as well as Group Contest, and often go on a trip where we compete at some place or another.

Ladies' Choir - 3 years. Alto One/Soprano II. We compete at S&E and Group Contest. We made it to States last year (but did not go).

Marching Band - 3 years. Piccolo Section Leader.

Theater Program - "Peter Pan," "Bye, Bye Birdie!," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Crazy for You," "Cinderella."

Academic Challenge - 3 years. JV Captain for 2, and Varsity captain now. We're really bad, but no college needs to know that. rofl.

Volunteering:

Hallelujah Raisers - Children's Choir - Asst. Director.

Canton City Youth Council - 4 years. We're a direct youth link to City Council, and we meet the mayor, the council, and do other things around town.

Teacher's Aide - I grade papers and things for my newspaper advisor who also teaches an English III class.

I'm very active within my church. We do a lot of community service with my youth group, and other random occasions like funeral receptions where I help set up things.

TAB (Teen Advisory Board) at my local library.

+As well as other special events in the community that occur throughout the year.

I interviewed a few weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure it went well. She asked me a lot of good questions -- what I like about Exeter, what my passions are, what kind of traits I look for in the people I associate with, what schools I'm looking at (college-wise), etc. She was very nice and we got along very well.

I'm relying heavily on financial aid, as in, without it, there's no chance in hell I have at going. We fall under the 75,000 or less financial aid initiative, and I know this is kind of bad, but I'm hoping that will actually be to my advantage.

You sound like you have a great chance! That's all I can really say though, good luck!
