So I replied in one of those massive forums which have 300ish pages of replies and counting and it’s really bombarding my notifications. Basically I’m asking how to unfollow (?) a forum, or atleast stop getting notifications for it.

If you have bookmarked it, unbookmark it. Or, click on the gear symbol in the upper right and change your preferences.
Problem is that I haven’t bookmarked it and I do want to get notifications from other threads that I’ve replied in, just not that one in particular.
Also, to other people reading this, I mean Exiting THREADs, not Forums. Got the two mixed up for a second
I don’t believe there is a way to do this at a thread level, unfortunately. If you click on the black gear icon in the top right near your username and then click “Preferences” you will see a page that allows you to set how you receive notifications. Look for the item that says, “Notify me when people comment on discussions I’ve participated in”, and make sure neither of the checkboxes is clicked. Of course, that will remove all notifications of this type for you, though perhaps you can re-enable it after that long thread quiets down a bit.

I suggest shifting your strategy. Don’t get notifications from every thread you participate in. DO use the bookmark feature to get notifications only from the ones you want to keep up with.
That seems like a lot of bookmarks; though are you guys sure there isn’t a way to do this at the thread level? I’m pretty sure this has happened to me before with another humongous thread and I found out someway to stop getting notifications from that specific thread (but I could also be remembering it wrong)
I’m not aware of any options for notifications on a specific discussion other than a bookmark. The only other options that impact notifications at the thread level are:
Notify me when people comment on my discussions.<br>
Notify me when people comment on discussions I’ve participated in.
These, of course, would impact all threads…instead of a specific discussion. So, it seems only bookmarks or just disabling notifications on the “discussions I’ve participated in” until that large thread dies down seem to be your two primary options. How many discussions are you currently getting notifications for?
