Anybody visiting Colby this week?

Have one child in for Nov. program. Waiting to see if the flight will work out because of a conflict with another program.

Glido…if you attended in Sept. 29-Oct. 1 let us know how it was please.

applied…now waiting on this one. I suppose you get an email response? What’s the title of the subject line? I applied with literally 30 minutes left on the deadline (transcript/scores sent by 5), I don’t expect a quick response.

Colby College: Experience Colby Visit Program (November)…

That was the email subject line of the acceptance. Hope you get in TypeRA.

T

TypeRa…definitely know how you feel. I typed up the short essay and emailed in my transcript at the last minute as well! It was pretty insane considering the 6 hour time difference. Got an email back yesterday saying that they’re willing to fly me in. Best of luck to you! :)

Didn’t happen (diversity rejection 3). Ah hell. Enjoy Colby lastonefastone.

TypeRA…my child was rejected from 3 or so and then accepted into several. Don’t give up. Are you interested in Oberlin? They are still accepting applications. Remember also that rejections are NOT an indication that you will not be accepted for admissions.

DS was fortunate to get to go. He loved it. Reports that the students at Colby are very welcoming and the campus is beautiful. he loved the food and got to attend some meetings of with Colby clubs. Turned out the weather was perfect last weekend too.

I got accepted to visit in November, I have no idea if that’s because I look appealing to them or what. I can’t wait to visit, as of right now Colby is my top choice.

Hey Chicken! Nice to meet someone else who will be attending the November program. I wasn’t expecting an invite either, because plane tickets from my location to Maine are absurdly expensive. Where are you and some of the other attendees for EC November coming from?

I’m from Appleton, WI (sort of near green bay where the packers are).

Niceee, I was thinking about applying to Lawrence University (It’s a pretty good school, no?). I’ll be flying up from Honolulu, Hawaii.

Has anyone been contacted back after sending in that one signed form? I emailed mine on Thursday but didn’t get another email confirming recieval or anything and am somewhat worried because the program is in three weeks.

I’d be flying from Honolulu, too.

nhdmaniac, What. The. Holy. Are you serious!? It’s a pleasure to meet you, haha. To answer your question someone from the Colby Admissions Office emailed me back thanking me for submitting the Experience Colby Travel Agreement Form. They mentioned something about their travel agency Hewins AAA Travel sending tentative itineraries during the week of 10/21 (We’ll be flying from HNL to Portland and then taking a shuttle). Perhaps we’ll be lumped on the same flight? I’ll be taking SAT Subject Tests at Punahou until 10-11 so I let them know that any departures before 1 pm are a no go.

When did you email the form in?

I guess I’ll just have to wait until tomorrow morning to call them to see if they got it.

But yeah, it’s super cool that I won’t be the only one with a super long itinerary and won’t be the only one to tell others that we don’t all hula dance.

I sent it in last week Wednesday, day before the deadline. I emailed Randi Arsenault? And I called her too…Maybe I only got the confirmation because of the constant heckling (about the late departure).

Seems I won’t be the only one suffering through the 16-17 hour flight or 40 degree weather! I mean, anything below 59 degrees in Honolulu is considered apocalyptic. WOOHOO! BONDING!

On the contrary, I say we seize the opportunity to do some trolling.

59 degrees? Anything below 75 is sweater weather for me! I’m quite excited to experience a change in climate, though. (The lowered humidity does wonders for acne.) I may actually have to find a real coat and gloves and a scarf and more jeans. (I just got really excited thinking about scarves and gloves, which are virtually unwearable here)

I’ve always considered trolling but have never mustered enough courage to actually do it. I guess it could be quite fun.

It’d be nice if others responded about the confirmation (I’m kind of paranoid about things).

We’ll be the two kids bundled up in 5 inch thick down coats! Pants!? Jeans? Real…leg coverings? Such an unfamiliar concept, haha. I swear I spent 360/365 days a year in shorts, let’s see how well we can brave Maine. Those aforementioned coats will definitely be coming in handy.

Not enough courage? I have no shame, haha. Have no fear! You’ve just been anointed my trolling partner in crime. If anything, just keep a straight face and nod along while I spew nonsense about the tribe leader caught a shark that will feed our village for many moons.

Agreed. It seems like the November EC program is dead. EC September '13 has a facebook page and everything, haha. Guess we’re the neglected bunch.

This trolling thing could be really fun. I know Hawaiian and could totally contribute with a chant about the sovereignty movement (which we can proclaim to be what is chanted before we sacrifice a haole to Pele).

The facebook page will probably come after the open house.

It’s seriously a lot more exciting knowing that I won’t be the only one from Hawaii.

I hope you guys like Maine! I grew up in Texas and moved here as a young adult. Be sure to dress in layers, because sometimes buildings are heated so much that you get hot. I bought a bunch of heavy sweaters when I first moved here, but ended up giving them away because they were too warm when I was inside.
