Experiences at LA Unifieds

Hi, Im auditioning at the LA unifieds this year, and i was wondering if anyone was willing to share their experiences, as far as the audition and the set-up go. I guess, the idea of unifieds is still unsettling to me, and to be honest, makes me nervous.lol Any advice as to what to expect, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

Btw. I'm auditioning for CCM and BOCO at the unifieds, so any info particular to these schools would be helpful as well! Thanks! :)

My D did the LA Unifieds in 2010. It was overall a good experience - pretty laid back actually. The schools were, for the most part, all at the same hotel. They each had a room for their auditions. Most had someone posted in front of the room to answer questions, check you in, whatever. The schools accepting walk-ins had a sign-up sheet for those, along with program materials you could pick up. The schools were scattered throughout the hotel but my D didn’t have any issues getting to and from the different locations. Each school obviously had their own way of running their auditions. Some had dance calls and others didn’t. At least one videotaped her audition.

She didn’t audition for BOCO or CCM so can’t help you there. Break a leg!

mvic2312 - My D also auditioned at the LA Unifieds in 2010. As Austinmtmom said below it was a good experience. D did audition for CCM and they had two different rooms she went to. One was for her song and monologue and the other was a larger room for the dance call with at least 10 or more others. She thought their dance was one of the more difficult ones, but did fine with it.

Make sure that you bring some water and snacks with you for the day. There were not many places to eat in the hotel and not many near by you could walk to when there was a break.

D was able to do 2 walk in auditions during the weekend with no problem. I think she did a total of 7 auditions over the weekend all for mt.

Have fun and break a leg!

Thanks austinmtmom and showmom858! Your good experiences make me feel alot better! As far as walk-ins go, are there any particular things (headshot, resume, etc.) that you need in order to do one. I wasn’t planning on doing a walk-in, but just incase!

You should have additional headshots and resumes in case you decide to do a walk in. You will also need a check to pay any audition fees for walk ins.

mk Thanks!
