I hear all this talk about experimental sections... I myself have never heard about these despite my summers of SAT prep. Can anyone explain that it is, and what is implied when a section is "experimental?"

If you've taken practice tests, then you know that every test has 3 math, 3 CR, and 2 writing sections. Well, an experimental section is bascially one extra section (like math) and so you end up with 4 math sections if we go with the example.

The purpose of the experimental section is for the testmakers to test the quality of the future tests (whether it's too easy, too hard, etc.) The experimental section will therefore not count for your overall score.

Thanks Mintie.
