The housing communities, explorations, sent me (and im assuming everyone else) an email. Are there some that are better than others (im more interested in the artsy ones) and how do they pick if you apply for one?

i got the same email but i couldnt figure out what the program entailed

me either.. or how much of your time it would suck up? or if they are as fun as enlightening as it sounds... haha it pretty much left me lost and confused.

its definitely more work than they are willing to say and by joining it you're probably stuck decorating n planning instead of going out n chilling.
oh n thanks 4 the support on the olsen twins thread about parents paying 4 college

haha no problem, i got so miffed when i read that yesterday that i didnt even know what to say to it.

yeah thats what im afraid of, but it still looks really interesting, so we'll see, i guess.

yea the same here. i hate it when people assume that because ur parents can pay $180 thousand you are automatically dumb and a spoiled brat

wow your parents can pay that much, lucky bastards, my parents can pay a tenth of that lol

I got this too. I think its just like themed housing, I'm not too sure I'm doing this, I'm more of a "normal" guy.

haha, well i dont consider myself an un-normal person either, i'm a CAS student who wants to do Tischy stuff, but not as a profession.

oh and my parents probably cant pay that much, but i got a merit-based scholarship.

I'm also looking into doing this...

I've heard both sides-- some have told me that their floors do NOTHING and that if I'm choosing between apartment style or explorations at Goddard, I should choose apartment style.

I've heard a few people say that some (but not all) floors actually do things.

Any feedback?

Im interested in Gotham and the leadership one

Im sure you're not un-normal Ranisparkle, no offfense intended. I'm an incoming CAS student who doesn't care much for artsy stuff--different strokes for different folks I guess. Themed housing is not something I need or want. My ideal dorm room has a large tv, play station, awesome stereo, cool roommates and copious quantities of alcohol!

haha, okay, maybe ill be coming into your room instead. hahaha, that does sound enticing. just make sure you have girly drinks for visitors, hahaha.

I posted the same confused question on the LJ forum, and it seems that the main thing explorations is good for is for non-freshmen to be able to get into a nice dorm (one that has explorations) instead of a yucky dorm that they would be entitled to as lowly sophmores in the lottery.

or something. the intricacies of post-freshman housing are beyond me, at least for the next year.

Ranisparkle, don't worry, weak girly drinks like cosmos and light beer will be there for female guests.

haha good. otherwise im a no-show.

Thats a deal. :)

maybe ill apply sophomore year or something, im kinda liking traditional experience right now.

im doing nyu tv in hayden
