Goddard

If Goddard is my first choice, i'm not sure it's either first or second. How do I apply for it? Through the exploration application somehow?

Also, can people give me their opinions on Goddard por favor.

Log into NYUhome, and finish up your housing form.

Goddard is explorations only, so you would have to apply for an explorations floor

Since Goddard is only explorations, you have to apply through explorations, and basically your housing preference doesn't mean anything if you applied for explorations.

I live in Goddard, or I lived there until yesterday. I love it. I love the location. The rooms are a bit small, but one shouldn't have that much stuff anyway. I love explorations...it's really nice to have a community with people that live on the same floor. The location is so good...it's actually 2 minutes away from everything--classes, food, the park, the library, printing lab, starbucks. If I didn't live in Goddard, I wouldn't have done have the activities I did.

kyang, can you tell me what the downsides to doing explorations/living in goddard are?

hmm...I dunno, I really liked Explorations...I didn't find much wrong with it. I lived on the 6th floor, and the elevators were a *****, especially that one girl who would get in just to go on the 2nd floor and someone would always call the elevator on the 3rd floor even though no one's there...but I would say those are specific idiot people I hope never to meet again. Other than that, I really don't recall much wrong with Explorations. Most of the problems were with specific people, not so much the concept of Explorations. Anyways, it can't hurt to do it...I found it lots of fun...you really get out what you decide to put in. I know my roommate wasn't into it as much, but we had lots of fun on our own too.

I didn't know CC bleeped out words...haha
let's put it this way: the elevators were really annoying

Im interested in Writing New York. Can you tell me anything about that floor and what they do? Thank you so much for your responses :)

Hmmm...Writing New York was the 3rd floor.
They called the elevator too often.
But besides that...I know that they were the only other floor who had a linked Writing the Essay.
I'm not sure how theirs went, but I know that our floor bonded over ours--mutual hatred leads to great friendships.
I know that there are lots of writers/poets on that floor, but that's kind of obvious.
I'm not sure exactly what they do, but they have activities about once a month.
For specific list, I would check their description, and if it doesn't say much, I'm sorry I'm not much help.

Any other questions about overall living in Goddard, feel free to drop me a message.

Final question, to all, if I apply for explorations and just apply for one floor, does that mean that if I dont get into that floor I will get placed in normal housing [based on my housing app] or some random explorations floor?

Do the floors for explorations stay the same...what floor is/will all the world's a stage be on? I know its random and insignificant but I'm curious.

Rachel: Thats how I read into it since I only want one exploration and only numbered one, so I think its either that or other housing prefs.

Hmm you should be placed on a explorations floor unless they really can't accomodate any of your choices.

I know that the floors haven't always been the same, but I don't know if they'll change it next year. We (all the world's a stage) were on the 6th floor, and I liked it...I sure hope they get rid of the funny smell on the 5th floor soon...

so that means, even that if i only apply for one floor [only 1 choice], i will be on an exploration floor no matter what?

do people actually ever not get the floor they apply for? ive never heard of it being competitive...

I don't know. It seems like a ton of people are applying to All the World's A Stage... which is the one that I'm really interested in.

true. thats where i applied haha. but keep in mind there are 40 spots. and id think most of the enthusiastic students who would actually apply to explorations are on cc/myspace/facebook/livejournal/etc so thats probably why we're hearing a lot about people applying. at least thats what id assume, i could be wrong.

scrapnel i think youre prob right.

does anyone know the answer to my question?
