I understand that all freshman must take this class and it has a very big workload. Can we take it over the summer at a community college and get the credits transfered?

i don't think so. but there is a way to NOT take expos. Its if you are taking AP english now and get i THINK a 4 or 5 on the ap exam. (i think its a 5)

it's a 4 or 5. and expos is not that bad.

yeah its a 4 or a 5 its like one essay a week and you may be able to get exempt from it by taking a summer course at a community college

yes you can take it at a CC. both 101 and 102 would transfer from the majority of CC's

More like draft due one week, then final revised paper next, then draft (for a new essay) again, then final again...
this cycle continues all through the sem. The only break we had was thanksgiving, when we were given an extra week to work on the revised. And during the final, instead of having a draft due, we did a timed writing in class.

The nursing programs requires you to take 17 credits..alot of which are science based and will require much studying. If I can wipe off 3 credits over the summer, I would prefer to do that.

I'll contact Rutgers in the late spring to verify that I will get credit for EW.
Thanks

expos is not bad at all, the people who cry about expos are the rutgers students that simply... suck, lack hard work and dedication.

Not true about the "lack hard work and dedication". There are exceptions -- like me :)

I started to complain about expos when I realized that despite going to office hours and signing up for tutoring @ the Writing Center, my writing still sucked and I still struggled with trying to "find my own voice" as my teacher stated, hence I ended up with a "C". Apparently my analytical skills suck when it comes to comparing Harry Potter Fan Fiction and overemphasis on self esteem . . . or Evangelical Christianity and misbehaving elephants.

I also believe that how well you do depends on the teacher. Mines was very lenient compared to my friend's and had essay topics that weren't as vague as another friend's. My "hard work" was done the night or morning before the class. Maybe if I had spent more time on my papers I'd have gotten that A. Also making friends with "A" writers and having them edit my papers were a plus.

I just think it will be easier if I take it over the summer at cc and then will only have to take 14 credits vs. 17 my first semester.

NOpe you're all wrong....engineering school of rutgers is the only school of rutgers that accepts expos from community college.....also if u started of at a community college....if you're accepted from freshman year theres no way out.....unless if you got credit for ap english

expos is hard only if your not a verbal person and if your trying to get an A. you'll go by getting a b or c if you're like the majority

i took ap english my junior year and got a 4 on the exam. does that mean i'm exempt from taking expository writing?

yes it does. good job!

The class isn't too bad. I mean for a lot of people its the first time writing 6 page papers so it is some what difficult. But yes it is possible to place out unless you're in the pharmacy program. And the class really depends on what professor you have.

Hmm, maybe it was because of the professor. My teacher - his topics were vague. I'm not placing all the blame on him, but it definitely didn't help that his topics sucked. Yeah, he wasn't really lenient =

OK who is the best EW prof?

Hmm, I don't know if the same professors teach expository writing every year. I think it changes. There may be a teacher or two who taught for more than one year.

Mine was a grad student who was pursuing a doctorate in comparative literature. He stated that he taught expos the year prior.
