ExPrEsS yOuRsElF! unc chapel hill

Thanks, but I kind of have a bad feeling about tomorrow  Your son’s stats sound really good! My EC’s are really weak, too, though; pretty much no community service. I’m really involved in a lot of bands, drum major, etc., but thats the only thing…and UNC is no music school!

@LadyDianeski: Where in god’s name is Stokes County? I’m sorry, just hate not knowing different places in my own state. lol

@Music4life2011: You probably were the first person accepted lol Trust me when I say this, you are in :D

Haha thanks for the vote of confidence! Good luck everyone :)

Lady-Di: yes we are in state. Seeing all these stats really concern me though…my sons: 2050 SAT (NO prep), 750 BioM, 700 Math II, 3.9 UW, & weak service, Class rank 33 out of 650+. I’m not hopeful!

are the results gonna be posted online tomorrow or is it by mail?

mommydeerest: I would be hopeful; your son’s stats sound really good, especially for in state!

holahellokitty: On our myUNC page, I think

Yep, I agree–mommydeerest’s son’s stats sound great. And music4life, believe me, you have waaaay better ECs than DS has. (Unless mastering the Monkey Island computer games counts as an EC, LOL.)

Stokes County is north of Forsyth County (Winston-Salem). We are not too far from “Mayberry”…about an hour south of the Virginia Blue Ridge.

Oh I live in Durham County, I just had never heard of it lol!

The results are being posted online and a letter will come in the mail shortly after… >_> lol

@twobittehz, yeah my friend goes through my account sometimes -.- she posted that haha

whose staying up all night? :D

Feeling a bit shaken. Just learned that a colleague (and dear friend) has lost her baby. She was just beginning third trimester. She went to the doc this a.m. for ultrasound…next thing we knew, she was in the hospital. Totally unexpected. We’ve been following her pregnancy day by day. She is devastated.

Puts it all in perspective. Why, O Lord?

Sorry…didn’t mean to be a downer. Time to get off-line!

@ladydianeski, i’m sorry to hear that! i will pray for her and her family and you.

LadyDi-So sorry to hear this. I suffered 8 miscarriages myself, but they were all in the 1st trimester, but a loss is a loss. My heart goes out to all. I guess that’s why my son has been my world…he’s the only one who made it & has been a sheer joy. He’s a wonderful boy & has been so easy to raise. My advice is just to “be there” for your friend. There is nothing you can say, but prayers & friendship mean the world right now. Your friend will never forget this but with time, it will get somewhat easier. I still have days where I find my old ultrasound images & cry…but they were mine & I somehow I don’t want to lose the memory of them…it’s weird. My thoughts & prayers your way.

Gotta run all…good luck & thanks for the encouragement!

people are so nice on this thing =]
good luck mommydeerest :D

I’m sorry to hear that :(

LadyDi - So sorry for your friend…praying for you both!

Oh I’m so sorry! I will be praying for both of you!

Prayers said for your friend, LadyDi. Real perspective as we are so caught up in what we want RIGHT NOW.
On another topic, some others have noted that their kids might not exist if they hadn’t gotten a denial from what was a top-choice school… can’t use that one here, since we met at Carolina… hmmm. Anyway, DD has other great acceptances already, and more regular deadline decisions to come; I’m sure every kid on this board has the same kind of options and should focus on that!

Everyone is nice, but in the classroom we’d be at each other’s throats. To the person who asked me earlier, yes, I’m in-state and from a rural county. I don’t have a lot of the ECs that those of you in the Charlotte/Raleigh area have, so feel blessed that you have a plethora of opportunities :)

We also have a lot more competition to the point where people like myself who pursue sports to high levels and don’t join bunches of clubs are outcasts. I do understand the lack of opportunity in classes though, my dad lived in randolph county and couldn’t take anything beyond Algebra II, no physics as well, and he went to engineering at State and it took a while for him to catch up, I really don’t know what to think about it because part of me wants to think they will be behind going to a certain school and the other part thinks that smart kids will succeed no matter where they go.
