Well, I’ve taken as many challenging course my school offers as well as courses online NCVPS. I had 10 classes for my junior year (one over the summer), because I took two extra courses. Hopefully this will account for something.

It will, they see what you did compared to what you could have done and it looks as if you definitely took as hard of a schedule as possible, also UNC has “quotas” for the amount of in state kids they take from each county so as long as your in the top 10 ish % in your county you should be fine.

I also heard about the unofficial quotas. I’m in the top 5% at my school, but there are 4 schools in the county. I broke it down like this:

Approximately 4,000 in-state students will be accepted (probably more, just a guess)

100 counties in NC

That’s approximately 40 students from each of the counties, but obviously the allowance for Mecklemberg and Wake will be higher than say McDowell county way out in the western part of the state. I only know 5 from my school who applied (including myself), and I think the numbers were lower for other schools in the county. They accepted 7 (people I knew last year, at least) from my school last year, so rationally speaking, I think I have a good chance. I’m not obsessive and I might be putting my foot in my mouth with these words. We’ll see tomorrow :)

and i’m from wake county so lots of competition. * sigh *

Thank you, y’all, for the prayers for my colleague! This was her first baby, a little boy. She married late in life (age 38); she’s 39 now. But she is healthy and fit, so there is hope for the future. I had my firstborn son at age 41, so I know it’s possible.

Thanks again for the kind words and prayers.

Y’all, I just realized something. In Catholic-Land (which I inhabit :)), today is the feast of Our Lady of the Miracle.

Our Lady of the Miracle, please pray for a miracle for all the students and parents at CC / UNC threads!

Phew. 5 tests today, very stressful… Now I’m back to worrying about this hahaha…

So sorry to hear about that, LadyDianeski, thats awful :(

Edit: Wow, didn’t realize that was today, and I’m Catholic as well. I guess that’s good fortune for us anxious kids! :)

LadyDi - Another Catholic here…great day!

So nervous! I’m OOS, 2260 on SAT, 4.65 GPA (weighted). I was fairly confident about admission to UNC until I got deferred from Georgetown. Now I have bitten all my fingernails off! I can’t wait for/am dreading decisions!!

Someone just posted on the blog that they were accepted. Has anyone else heard anything?

No!! what was that? You think they are just messing with us? that would be cruel

No details. No name. If you don’t have a decision up on your MyUNC, then I’d assume that someone was baiting the group.

BTW, best wishes to all of you tomorrow!

someone replied ditto. could have been the same person since they are both anonymous… uhh i have cross country practice at 6 and am going to be exhausted from all this stress!

pretty sure they’re just trying to start a reaction. i believe decisions will all be sent out at the same time.

Have you all checked your MyUNC? D is sledding (again!) and told me to call her

I checked my son’s site…no change:(

I’m calling BS on this one.

Ditto!!!

Weren’t they supposed to update the admissions blog today?

My guess is that someone is trying to be funny…NOT:) Julie did say that they would do an update today and let us know how to get our info tomorrow. She has been true to her word so far, so I’m going to assume that she will do what she said she would. Good luck all…the wait is almost over:)
