We finally got to make our annual holiday visit to grandma’s which got delayed for several reasons. The tree is up, the gifts are still.
wrapped

Trying to keep myself occupied cleaning house - it’s a disaster after snow day!
Still keep checking, obviously. Just waiting to hear from everyone else cuz D won’t check til 3 CST - 4 there. Hope they’re up then!

Oops, my phone posted before I was ready! Anyway, we are having a late family Christmas gathering, complete with snow! A UNC acceptance would make our gathering truly memorable!

I guess I’m new to this, but what would all those callers be saying? My son wouldn’t even think of calling after reading a decision that’s been posted. He’s gotten in to 4 schools and has be deferred at 4 schools. Are we supposed to call someone?

Lots of angry parents will call wanting to know why their child got rejected, even though they really shouldn’t. The best thing to do when deferred is to give them a few days to cool off from all the angry phone calls and then the STUDENT should call or email and politely ask what in his application caused him to be deferred and what he can do to increase the likelihood of his acceptance later. A lot of the time, colleges want to see first semester grades or they want you to take the SAT again to up your scores.

But when students are rejected, I honestly don’t know why parents call. It’s rude and it will do the student absolutely no favors.

When call the schools where deferred, should the student ask for just anyone in admissions, or should they specifically ask for the admissions officer that handles their region, if there is one? (I would think the latter).

And is a call better than an email?

I don’t really know about that, but the region’s admissions officer sounds like a good bet. For schools like UNC, a call would be best. They get so many emails that it will take forever for a response, if you even get one. I emailed admissions about a week and a half ago about application materials and I never got an email back. A call will ensure that you actually get to talk to someone. For smaller schools, an email would probably suffice.

Hey does anyone know what time the decisions are out?

GL guys! I had a really weird dream about CC last night (although it was unrelated to admissions decisions). Hopefully we’ll have a lot of CC’ers becoming tarheels!

Only about 4 hrs to close of business in admissions you guys! How’s everybody doing?

I’m pretty good, trying to keep myself occupied. I’ve had the nervous munchies all day lol!

For the sixth time: YOU GUYS ROCK!

^^ Haha me too. The weather here was icky so I’ve been baking all day and eating it :)

I really want a banana pudding shake from Cookout. I know that’s random but you just said something about baked goods lol

Looks like we’re working on our freshman 15 already! lol

I really hope DD hears and texts me before school is out. I have Carolina blue and white spray paint with which to paint our lawn…and bought 1 doz helium blue/white balloons to fill her car. I’m thinking on the positive side, but if she doesn’t get in we can pop the balloons with darts…lol :)

Good luck everyone…

Yummm! And @84uncgrad: that’s sooo sweet of you! My parents hardly care :frowning: and I totally hate to admit this but I just visited that spam “decision” site they put on te blog… and got rickrolled…

@Twobittehz…chocolate chip cheesecake milkshake for me please! :)

@84UNCgrad…that is such a great idea! Good luck and I hope she gets in because that would be awesome to come home to. My parents are pretty psyched for me as well, but nothing like that!

@Twobittehz

The level of jealousy that I have for anyone who is in close proximity to cookout right now is extreme. If only Europe had cookout…

I’m sitting in class right now XD.
Nobody that applied to UNC can focus. At all.
AT ALL. Hahahaha.

Haha Cookout is an amazing place  I’m less than a mile down the road from one.

@84UNCgrad: You rock for being so thoughtful. Good luck to you and yours :)

I have the opposite problem. I think my family cares more than I do, I worry about them being upset for me when it really isn’t a huge deal to me whether I get in or not.
