Expulsion from University

I am an International Student here in the United States. I got the news today that I will be permanently expelled from my University by the end of this semester, that is, December 14. I am allowed to write an appeal letter but I am not sure if they are going to change their decisions even after I give the appeal letter. I have been found guilty of Behavioral Code of Conduct. They said what I did is considered Consumer Fraud and decided against prosecuting me. I have a GPA of 3.7 and will have 64 credits on my name at the completion of this semester.

I really like my university but I don’t think I will be able to continue my education here.

Could you please tell me what options I have in case my appeal is rejected?

Also, can I transfer to any university right now as my expulsion is not effective yet?

Is what you did considered consumer fraud?

Can you transfer to a university in your home country?

Yeah.

I am hoping to stay at my current university. But I want to be prepared for the worst-case scenario.

I cannot transfer to a university in my home country. If I go back, I have to start over.

Not sure you will be able to transfer without this being on your record. It may not be effective yet but when it does go into effect you would have to notify any possible university of the infraction. There are questions on the app that you will have to update if there is a change in your status.

Best to try to appeal at your current university. Compose a thoughtful, insightful and contrite letter showing what you have learned and how you will change going forward.

Thank you so much for the suggestion. I am exactly trying to do that. But I have never written this before so I don’t even know how to do it.

Whithout knowing what you did it’s hard to make suggestions. Since it sounds like there was legal issues I’d consult an attorney about that. As for staying in school, you’re at their mercy. Good luck.

You probably won’t be allowed to stay since the fact they’re not prosecuting you is a mercy (ie., expulsion is the nicest they can do), so you should look at ALL colleges that still admit Spring tranfers and do that today.
Are you full pay?

I am not sure, but it is possible that your visa might be cancelled also. This would require you to leave the US and go home.

If you are not a student, then your student visa is not valid. I would suggest talking to a lawyer.

Do talk to a lawyer because if you’re not enrolled in a university you must leave the US, and of course you need to figure out what to do once your college dorm closes.

Talk to the person in charge of your visa at your university to know about the status of your visa after December 14. If you stay with an invalid I-20 and visa then you will never be allowed to come back to the US again.

To emphasize: NEVER.
Your name is entered in a data base and you cannot return for studies, undergraduate or graduate, for tourism, or for business. You’re considered a risk.
Your appeal should explain what in the world you thought you were doing when you committed fraud, what you understood from the process, apologize, show what you learn, how you’re going to take concrete steps to rectify the action and behavior (reimbursing people, go into therapy, participate in volunteering activities… <= probably all of that as a minimum). And before for a second chance.
If they already gave you a second chance for something else (cheating on a test, getting drunk…) and you blew it like that, devote all your time to finding a school that still accepts students. Hopefully you were full pay - if not you’re unlikely to get a scholarship to the school where you transfer.
So you need to focus on these schools still admitting transfers. Focus on the Midwest and Maine.
What’s your budget? Your major?
