So, this is probably a stupid question, but how long should the extended essay be? Like, I have like 550 words for my extended essay, so I'm fairly worried that it's far too short.

It should be as long as it has to be and no longer.

Seriously, there is no well-defined answer to this question. It should be as long as it has to be to say everything you want, and no longer than that.

mine is as short as 300 words. and I’m still optimistic.

My final word count was 653 (: They say it “should be one or two page,” but if you can get the point across in less or more, I don’t really see the issue.

Wow, I feel as though I wrote an epic with my 750 word behemoth. I hope it won’t count against me.

P.S. I loved the “Find x.” question.

Shnead: my essay was a whopping 1032 words and I got in just fine.

P.S. “How did you get caught?” will always be first in my heart.

550 words is just fine. Mine is around 500.

They take it for what it is. Keep in mind that they have to read everything you send them, but if its interesting length won’t matter

I know of people who have been accepted with 300 word essays and with 1500+ word essays. They care more about the content. However, I wouldn’t go on babbling nor would I leave out important details.
