<p>Since it's a German secondary school I was attending, my teacher, who has 'not so much' experience writing recs asked me about that.</p>
<p>Maybe some admissions officer or anyone else who has experience in this area is roaming this forum and could estimate an approximate number of words for recommendations to be at least 'acknowledged' by the Ivies....</p>
<p>I’d say a page long is typical, but I have to believe that among the mountain of generic letters of recommendation, anything that would stand out is good. My older D got a letter from a math instructor (math was her poorest subject) that was four pages of gushing prose. When I first saw it I thought it was too much and over the top, but apparently it worked well.</p>
