So I got into UCSD and plan to attend in the fall. Everything was fine until there was a death in the family which forced me to miss a lot of school to help out with things. So I knew I had to keep Cs and have a 3.0 weighted gap to avoid getting rescinded. I was able to get c's and As in my classes except for English which I got a d in. I still have the 3.0 gpa but I was wondering if UCSD would understand this and let me make up the class at a community college or something over the summer so that I could still attend in the fall.

There’s no way that we can know what UCSD will do. I would go ahead and sign up for a summer class - just in case.

Was your “year-end” grade a D? Or just a quarter grade?

I’m sorry to hear that you had a death in the family. Was this a parent or sibling?

Call UCSD and talk to them about it. Personally, given your circumstances, I think they would be heartless to rescind you.

It was a parent. But yeah thanks for the advice. That’s what I think I’m going to do.

You could also have your guidance counselor do the phoning for you if you prefer.

I’m so sorry to hear that you lost a parent. Have your GC call and help make sure that your acceptance isn’t rescinded.

first of all, very sorry.
secondly, go to your teacher as well as your guidance counselor. Given the circumstances, wouldn’t the teacher be willing to bump you to a “C?”
then go to your guidance counselor and ask them to make the call.
Good luck.
Let us know what happens

^^^

Good idea about going to the teacher for a bump in grade (maybe thru some extra work). I would think a teacher would be flexible in such a circumstance.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss as well. It makes me sad that your teachers did not work with you through this tragedy in your life. Unfortunately, some people do not get it.

The first thing to do is to call the college. If they will not rescind your admission, enjoy your summer. Get some much needed time off and do something for yourself if you can.
