<p>If i win several smaller scholarships, will I be able to use them in addition to my financial aid or does UNC has a policy of detracting from the finanacial aid to its full entirety before giving me money. I am pretty sure many of you will be in my situation as we have such a talented pool on this forum who will probably be getting smaller scholarships so this information will be quite helpful.</p>

I got this file thru my Onyen logon. I have also pasted some of the info for external scholarships.</p>
<p>Outside funding cannot be used to replace any of your Expected Family Contribution (EFC).
Outside funding will be used first to reduce any Federal loan funds, then Work-Study awarded.
If the outside funding exceeds the amount of Federal loan and Work-Study awarded (or if your original
financial aid award package includes only need-based University scholarships and grants), any awarded needbased
scholarships and grants must be reduced or cancelled.</p>
