After I submitted my Common Application, I realized that my Common App essay perhaps failed to explain about myself... I may have simply appeared to be a good story teller.

So, last night in bed I was wondering, since college admissions have to read everything you send in... could I be sending them an extra essay, that WILL describe about my personal characteristic more?

But the deadline was 1/1, and if I were to send it in, it'll be post marked 1/2 earliest... do you think they'll still take it?

Do you think it’ll be ok for me to send those on 1/3 (since I didn’t get the chance to go to the post office today) although the deadline was 1/1, and everything probably needed to be post marked by 1/1?

Yes, they’ll still read it. Extra stuff sent in after the initial application will be added to your file. As long as you sent in your initial app in on time.

But some colleges don’t want extra essays so it’s your job to make sure.

Also, I was concerned about this one thing…
When I submitted my Common App last night, it said: submitted 1/1
And when I checked this morning, it had changed to: downloaded 1/2

Does this mean I still got them in on time…?

I would think that sending in an extra essay would suggest that you were unable to fully express yourself in your first one…which wouldn’t be a good thing.
unless you use your second one to explain some unusual circumstances, like if you were raised with a single mother under extreme poverty etc.
maybe you should send your original essay to some of the readers here, and ask them if it is actually that bad…otherwise, i would think you should just stick to it and not do extra things to undermine your app.

I suppose I should ask if anyone here’s willing to read my Common App essay, and to see if I had expressed/talked myself enough in it… because I have a feeling that I didn’t :(

As for Stanford, I actually wasn’t planning on really sending anything extra because of the 3 other supplements.
Also, I contacted Johns Hopkins and they said they are cool with it, just for the future reference.
