Extra Scholarships

Does anyone know of scholarships for boarding schools that don’t come from financial aid or merit? Are there any contests or company sponsored scholarships? Thank you

There’s the Caroline D. Bradley one…

Most prep schools don’t even give scholarships, and there aren’t, to my knowledge, any corporate ones.

Peddie School offers several generous merit based academic scholarships. The link below provides specific information. http://www.peddie.org/Page/Admission/Merit-Based-Scholarships/Overview

There are some that are school based - we just got an e-mail from Stuart School (Staunton VA), all girls school that said they have scholarships available for students from specific southern states.

Stuart Hall School is actually co Ed.

Stuart County Day School or Stuart Hall? Because the former is all girls.

Hmm, looks like maybe my husband was confusing things. We were talking about Stuart Hall (Staunton) - and they do have a couple of scholarships but I’m not finding the one he was talking about for residents of southern states. I’ll double check with him and re-post.

My daughter applied to Peddie based on their Scholarships. We make too much for FA but I checked my wallet to look for $50000 and just found a 20 and 3 ones, so I was a little short :-). They have a very generous Merit Scholarship program, and although I realize that you mentioned scholarships other than FA or merit, the Peddie Scholarships have several criteria above and beyond academics. Good luck!

Thank you all for your input but I am looking for non school based scholarships. I have already applied to schools and their merit scholarships. I was just wondering if there were other types of scholarships through corporations or people who set up foundations.

At this point I don’t think there’s anything you can do.

+1 on what mrnephew says…

Note that some schools have endowed scholarships for applicants from specific geographic regions…like the Ross at SPS (for kids from Northern NJ). The Heinz’s also have something (I forget which school) for kids from Western PA.
