When I print preview my common app, the extracurricular description box cuts off my words... which is weird because there is a hard character limit on the boxes (i can't type more than x number of characters). I of course adhered to this limit, but it seems that there is an even lower limit of characters that actually show up on the print preview? will colleges be able to see everything i wrote as long as I fit it into the hard limit? or should i make sure i write even less so it shows up on print preview?

I think you have to make it fit on the print preview. It sucks, I know- the common app is very restrictive in this area.

Okay thank you!

Also, my additional information box allows plenty of characters, but it also cuts off in the print preview. The cut off is very severe, less than half of my information shows up. Does anyone else have this problem?

If you are getting cut off for additional information, you might want to consider just uploading a separate document

okay, i guess there is no limit on a document upload? because doesn’t it print out anyway?

The limit isn’t a word or character limit, it’s a size of file limit. If your file uploads, then you are within the limit. If not, it won’t upload. Whatever you upload will be converted to pdf.

So if I upload a pdf, it doesn’t matter what it looks like on the print preview? The admissions officers will download it as a pdf file anyway?

What you see in print preview is exactly what admissions officers will see if they review your app online, which many do. When you upload a pdf, it should preserve your original formatting so the preview should come out fine.
