Extracurricular dilemma

Recently, a friend told me about crew and how awesome/fun it is. He said that it would be awesome to try over the summer, like a camp.

However, I'm a junior, and starting a sport is a big no-no. Also, I'm a dedicated musician and dancer, and doing research this summer.I'm worried I might not have the time. I really want to try crew, but I want advice. If it detracts from my dance or music, it could be a problem for college, right? (I have no interest in getting recruited for crew for college-this is for fun)

I did crew for one year, and it's not something to take lightly. It's a big time commitment, and you'll definitely work your butt off to get in shape and learn the technical aspects. I did it my freshman year, and we had practice every day after school which took up at least 3 hours every day with practice and busing to the boathouse. Your school may not be as intense (our crew program is very good), so that's something to find out.

If you're really dedicated to music and dance, my guess is you wouldn't have time to take on crew as well.

Still, if you want to try a camp during the summer and have the time, you've got nothing to lose.
