Extracurricular Help!!

I am a well rounded student in my junior year with a rigorous class load, an unweighted 4.0 GPA, and I am certainly in the top 10% of my class (however my school does not rank). My current SAT score is 2040 (not super scored) with a 620 CR, 650 M, and 770 W. I plan to raise my CR and M scores as I am taking the SAT again this month.

My weakness is definitely my ECs, as I want to go to a competitive/selective school. Some of my top choices are:
Boston College
Northeastern
Boston University
Duke This is a VERY HIGH reach school and I understand I am unlikely to be accepted regardless

In the way of ECs, I currently have:

Four national honor societies in the fields of math, science, history, and English. (I also plan to apply for Spanish honor society this year, as I exceed all of the requirements.)

Member of my school’s Key Club for three years, and I was recently inducted into the Interact Club. These clubs are volunteer organizations devoted to giving back to the community as well as the nation on a larger scale.

Key Club is my main priority, and I partake in almost all of events (which there are a lot of). Some include:
A talent show to raise money for cancer (annual), I work on the raffle committee.
Sears Tour: We are assigned an underprivileged child from our community and take them on a trip to sears where we have $150 per child to spend on cold weather attire (we then wrap them as gifts for Christmas, and include donated toys and books)
And many more small events and drives!

Relay for Life since freshman year, last year I was captain of my team.

I have always been in concert band, have completed two years of marching band (with one more year to go), and am a member of my school’s crew (rowing) team.

ANY suggestions or advice you have for me to strengthen my resume and transcript is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks so much!!

You shouldn’t do an EC just for the sake of increasing your chances of getting into a certain college. Do ECs for yourself; the best way to strengthen your app is to do what you are passionate about and commit to it. Once you start doing that, the getting into college part will come naturally.

Here’s a blog you should read if you want to find the best advice for strengthening your resume. It’s written by an MIT officer, but can be applied to every college: http://mitadmissions.org/blogs/entry/applying_sideways
