I’m thinking that I’m interested in studying psychology in college but am having trouble acquiring a strong list of extracurriculars. I know that the thing to do is have a strong point (relating to desired area of study), but it’s hard to do that when my school doesn’t have a psychology club or anything like that. How can I make sure I have a somewhat impressive list of activities without the whole “jack of all trades” approach?
You can start a psychology club, reach out to psychologists if they are willing to mentor you, etc. You do not have to completely narrow your ECs in high school, since youre still in high school. Do things you enjoy. Most people who are in college didnt focus so heavily on one thing in high school. Its ok if you arent in a psych club; you can still study psych.
Don’t worry about having Psychology ECs…do things that interest you.
Volunteering in a hospital would be good…then you are exposed to all kinds of people.
