I am a student who does extracurriculars because I truly enjoy them not because I want to show colleges that I do extracurriculars. In my school though, there are an ample number o people who put themselves into a club just for the sake of it so that they can tell colleges. In addition to that, they bring all their friends to elections just so that they can win a leadership position to put on their college application. I on the other hand am not as popular essentially and do not get as many votes, causing me to lose, even though I care so much about the club. Essentially what I am asking is that if I can’t get a position, will colleges not like that? And another question I have is how can I get some sort of leadership experience??
Unfortunately for you, that is how “leadership” works. In a democracy, the most popular person, and not necessarily the most qualified person, will be the leader.
You can see this from local school elections all the way up to the presidential election. Knowing how to carry out the duties of a leader is only part of leadership, getting elected to become a leader is the other half of leadereship.
