there's a MEDlife group at my school, but in order to travel abroad, i need to raise funds. the problem is i don't think i have enough time to do that right now. i'm thinking about doing UVM rescue for volunteer work.

my question is, how much is traveling abroad considered in applying for med school?

right now i'm doing lab work for work study. i'm also not saying that traveling abroad is out of the question. i just don't know when the perfect time is to do it. another question, how competitve is it to get into a SMDEP? or does vary from college to college?

i should probably include that it’s also financial reasons that makes me worry traveling abroad. i’ve also joined two other groups on campus that aren’t science/medical related, but are things that i love. there’s also a pre-med club at my school which i can’t make time for. i don’t know how worth it is to join, because so far they’ve just had talks which have been telling me the same thing i’ve been finding on CC. (love CC) and there’s an entry fee and stuff like that.

Traveling is liked if you get somethng out of it. If its a financial burden there are plenty of other activties that you can gain valuable experience from. Do things you enjoy.
