Extremely nervous about gpa, chance for CALS premed?

Hi, i'm a senior (class of 2011) and i'm applying as a bio major (premed) next year to CALS Early Decision (in-state)

These are my stats:

ACADEMIC

GPA: 88-91 UW (Only academic, no electives included), (3.3-3.4 based on CB's scale)
Rank: HS does not rank, but definitely top 20%, maybe 10%
ACT: 32 (will hopefully be a 34 after september)
SAT II: Bio M- 740 (Retaking), Physics- 740 (Retaking)
APs: Bio- 5
Next year taking Calc AB, Physics C, Mech and E&M, and Music Theory

ECs
Spanish Club (10-12, treasurer)
Guitar Ensemble (11-12)
NHS (10-12)
Spanish NHS (10-12)
Honor Roll every semester
Self taught guitar since 8th grade
~ 30 hours of volunteer work

Also, my uncle graduated from Cornell a few years ago, i don't know if this counts as a legacy?

Assuming an average essay and recommendations, what are my chances? Also, do you think that getting ~150 volunteer hours in over the summer would help make up for my poor GPA? Any input at all would be helpful, thanks!

You have a chance if you have stellarific essays. My oldest brother had a 3.46 (2 C’s :[) and he got into Cornell ILR early decision because he had a 1580 SAT (equiv. of around 2370) and sick good EC’s and ridiculously fantastically good essays. Follow his lead!

Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it! just out of curiosity, what were his essays about?

I def think you have a chance. Amping up your service hours would be very good for you. I’m in CALS and I was ED too, Food Science Major (it’s considered a premed major).
Unless you are 100% sure you will do better in your SAT II after such a long time, I’d say your scores seem good enough already. As a science major I believe you need a Math Level II sat too.
